Voicewize's mission is to provide specialized evaluation, treatment and training in voice and speech to people living in the communities of Eastern Massachusetts and beyond.

Barbara is a licensed speech-language pathologist (Mass.) and singing voice teacher (member of the National Association of Teachers of Singing).
Barbara graduated from the MGH Institute of Health Professions at Massachusetts General Hospital completing a specialty rotation in voice disorders at the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary. Prior to founding Voicewize, she was employed at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary Voice Lab and Braintree Rehabilitation Hospital.
In addition to her clinical work, Barbara has been a singer and actor for more than 15 years. She studied voice at the New England Conservatory, through consortium with Simmons College and completed an acting program with Shakespeare and Company in Lenox, Massachusetts. She is a certified master teacher of the Estill Voice Training System and has a Level 1 certification in LoVetri Somatic Voicework.
Barbara has been quoted in Yoga Journal and spoken on the topic of voice rehabilitation at Boston University, Harvard Vanguard and the New England Institute of Art. Her paper entitled "Maintenance of Postural Alignment for Voice Production", written with physical therapist Artlette Frederick was published in the Journal of Voice. Her textbook chapter "The Speech-Language Pathologist's Evaluation of the Hoarse Child", written with Shirley Gherson, was published in the Plural Publishing book "Pediatric Voice Disorders". Barbara has also become an expert in teaching singing technique for contemporary commecial music (rock, pop, country, folk) and has developed special approaches to teaching singing to pre-pubescent children. She has spoken on these topics at the Longy School of Music and at the NATS summer workshop. Her DVD, "The Kid and the Singing Teacher", produced in conjunction with master singing teacher, Robert Edwin, has received positive reviews by singing teachers and the Journal of Singing. In the Spring 2011 semester, Barbara taught the undergraduate Voice Disorders course at Bridgewater State University.

Jordan Piel, MS CCC-SLP, speech-language pathologist & singing teacher
Jordan is a licensed speech-language pathologist in Massachusetts, and holds the Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) from the American Speech-Language Hearing Association (ASHA). He received his master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from Northeastern University, and also holds a bachelor's degree in Linguistics.
He began his specialized voice pathology training at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, where he remains on staff part-time, collaborating with Harvard Medical School-affiliated physicians. His continuing education in voice therapy and training has included Lessac-Madsen Resonant Voice Therapy, Estill Voice Training, and Lee Silverman Voice Treatment (LSVT). He is currently heading a research project to determine the effects of voice and singing therapy in people with Parkinson's Disease. Jordan attended the National Parkinson Foundation's Allied Team Training in 2008, and has presented on voice and speech changes associated with Parkinson's disease.
In addition to voice, his clinical interests include evaluation and treatment of fluency disorders (stuttering) and motor speech disorders (dysarthria). He enjoys singing rock, jazz, and other contemporary music, as well as playing guitar.
Rachel Rynick, singing teacher
Mezzo-soprano Rachel Rynick has been playing and loving music ever since, as a toddler, she was allowed to bang on the high keys while her mother played jazz piano. As a child, she took lessons in recorder and piano, and in high school became fascinated with music theory. While earning her BA in education studies and music from Swarthmore College, Rachel fell in love with classical voice, studying with Julian Rodescu and Clara Rottsolk, as well as continuing her piano studies under Marcantonio Barone and Laurie Ticehurst Poole. Since moving to the Boston area, Rachel has continued to pursue her musical studies across genres, and is currently completing her Master of Music degree in vocal performance at the Longy School of Music, where she studies with renowned soprano Anna Gabrieli. She has also been studying pop vocal technique with Voicewize director, Barbara Wilson Arboleda. She enjoys working with all genres of singing, while remaining grounded in healthy vocal technique. Rachel has taught students of all ages, and continues to be astounded at the depth of joy and fun possible in the study of music.
Daniel Pope, guitar teacher
A graduate of the Berklee School of Music, Dan has performed and taught a variety of guitar styles including blues, soul, jazz, funk and rock. He has studied both classical and rock guitar techniques and is committed to ensuring that each student develops musicality skill while applying them to various types of songs. Dan has performed with bands, such as The Electric Soul, and worked extensively as a session player for recording artists. One of hiis favorites of these projects was the CD "Braille Rocks", which raised awareness of this form of communication for the blind. Dan has also developed specialized teaching skills at the Mass Hospital School, where he teaches guitar to a variety of students with physical and communication challenges.
Nicholas Papps, guitar teacher
Born and raised in Dedham, Nicholas has been teaching guitar for almost 10 years. Currently, he fronts his band, Dirty Strange, with his brother Alex on bass. They have played at many venues in and around Boston, including: The Middle East, Copperfields, Fusion 5 and The Beachcomber. In between gigs with his band you can find him playing and sitting in with various acts around the city including Lisa and Louie Bello and Malik Williams. He runs a recording studio out of his home and is currently recording his band's debut album.

Voicewize has partnered with ENT Specialists (offices in Needham, Norwood, Brockton, Taunton & Plainville) and Massachusetts ENT Associates (Chelmsford) for the provision of laryngeal videostroboscopy and improved continuity of care for their voice disordered patients.
